INTRODUCTION TO QUICK SELF FIXES AND TARGETED MUSCLE TESTING

Targeted Muscle Testing is a muscle strength evaluation system. Targeted Muscle Testing challenges a person’s muscle strength against a tester’s pressure as a means of quickly determining repeatable levels of muscle weaknesses and/or strengths. Most people, including Olympic athletes, professional sports athletes and body builders have a significant number of muscles that test chronically weak. The odds are extremely high that a significant percentage of your muscles would also test weak. These muscles are not weak because you need more exercise. These muscles are most often weak because of connective tissue tightness and/or joint fixations that are disrupting blood flow, lymphatic drainage, cerebral spinal fluid flow, and/or nerve conduction that are essential for sustained muscle strength. These muscles have gone dormant like a bear hibernating in the winter to conserve its resources.

Master Fixes


INTRODUCTION

The concept of Master Fixes comes from a program called Quick Self Fixes developed by Cassius Camden Clay, D.C.. Master Fixes are the most important part of the Quick Self Fixes concept. A Master Fix is a self treatment which makes all weak muscles found through Targeted Muscle Testing instantly strong! Strong muscles promote better function and comfort.

Targeted Muscle Testing is a muscle strength evaluation system developed by Dr. Cassius Camden Clay. Targeted Muscle Testing challenges a person’s muscle strength against a tester’s pressure as a means of quickly determining repeatable levels of muscle weaknesses and/or strengths. Most people, including Olympic athletes, professional sports athletes and body builders have a significant number of muscles that test chronically weak. The odds are extremely high that a significant percentage of your muscles would test weak also. These muscles are not weak because you need more exercise. This program contains six Master Fixes and the Cranial Fix, and takes less than four minutes to complete. It is ok to perform Master Fixes several times a day. Definitely do Master Fixes prior to strenuous physical activity. Master Fixes have been tested extensively over time and are guaranteed to be effective.

Dr. Clay randomly discovered the concept of Master Fixes around 2006 when attempting to make an unresponsive weak muscle strong. Dr. Clay’s first Master Fix was the “Large Intestine Fix”. After 15 or so failed attempts to make a weak muscle strong, he massaged the large intestine and the muscle became instantly strong! After that, whenever Dr. Clay failed repeatedly on making a weak muscle strong, he performed the “Large Intestine Fix” and it worked almost every time. He eventually figured out that any weak muscle found through Targeted Muscle Testing became instantly strong by massaging the large intestine. This was the birth of Master Fixes. Master Fixes are Dr. Clay’s most important discovery.

Doing the entire Quick Self Fixes Routine including “Master Fixes” takes about 20-25 minutes. Quick Self Fixes is similar to a yoga practice. It demands discipline and time. Dr. Clay does the entire Quick Self Fixes Routine prior to events like trail running or martial arts training. However, he does Master Fixes every day.

Dr. Clay recommends that you study and learn the entire Quick Self Fixes Routine after learning Master Fixes. Also, you may also utilize the “Body Part to Quick Self Fixes Index” to choose which Quick Self Fixes help with specific body parts.

Master Fixes correct muscle weakness in seemingly unrelated muscles. When other Quick Self Fixes are not enough by themselves to make the associated weak muscle strong, Master Fixes save the day by making the weak muscle instantly strong!

When all of the Master Fixes are performed together, our propensity for remaining muscularly strong is significantly improved. We attain increased comfort and improved function such as balance, posture, gait and thus, athletic performance.

The Cranial Fix is included in this section even though it is not a Master Fix. The Cranium needs a little help aligning with the bodies new found strength after performing Master Fixes

Dr. Camden Clay has been in practice as a Chiropractor since 1983. By the end of 2017, he had taught 284 “Assisted Stretching Postures from Thai Massage” workshops for the massage profession. In 2012, Dr. Clay studied the feet all year (he commonly studies one body part per year.) He combined his vast knowledge of chiropractic foot adjusting, Assisted Stretching and foot anatomy and created “Happy Feet”!

Treat one of your feet and walk around the room.(Also, when treating others, ask them to walk around the room after treating one foot.) Make note that almost every time, people agree that the foot that has been treated feels “alive, flexible and amazing” while in comparison, the untreated foot feels “numb, like a wooden peg leg”!

“Happy Feet” was originally developed as a section of Dr. Clay’s “Assisted Stretching Postures from Thai Massage” workshop.

Dominik Pesola said “People well trained in ‘Happy Feet’ should go to health fairs with a sign that reads ‘Right foot free, left foot $20, show me the $”. This is a great marketing strategy to “make new friends and influence people.”


Doing both feet takes around 5 minutes.

Dr. Clay has developed seven “Master Fixes”. These “Master Fixes” usually make all weak muscles found through Targeted Muscle Testing instantly strong. “Happy Feet” is a “Master Fix”. It is possible that the reason all muscles usually get strong following “Happy Feet” is releasing the connective tissue in the feet may cause massive connective tissue relaxation throughout the body. Our arteries, veins, nerves, lymphatic channels and cerebral spinal fluid spaces all travel through and are supported by the connective tissue system. When the connective tissue system is relaxed, life flows better.

Assisted Stretching Postures from Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient healing system. In Thailand, Thai Massage has been practiced and taught in Buddhist monasteries. It has also been a family tradition handed down from one generation to the next. Thailand is a crossroads for healing information, including Yoga from India and Acupressure from China. Traditional Thai Massage combines assisted yoga stretching postures with a unique and specific system of acupressure.

Dr. Clay teaches the assisted yoga postures from Thai Massage and two stretches he developed, which are the Hip Joint Capsule Stretch and the Occiput/Atlas Connective Tissue Stretch. Although he has studied the traditional Thai Massage acupressure in depth and found it useful, and very time consuming. He does not often use the acupressure point therapy, and does not teach it.

When doing Assisted Yoga, a deep knowledge of anatomy is not necessary, although it is very beneficial. Most Thai Massage practitioners in Thailand have not studied human anatomy. In Thailand Assisted Yoga is usually preformed on a floor mat with the client fully clothed.

Since the 1980’s, Yoga’s popularity in the west has grown exponentially. Many people understand the benefits of practicing Yoga. Explaining “Assisted Yoga” to them is easy! It is Yoga with help. The client is passive while the Assisted Yoga practitioner is active. The client gets flexible while the therapist gets strong. It is sometimes referred to as “a lazy person’s Yoga”. Presently, assisted stretching is practiced most by Massage Therapists, Physical Trainers, Physical Therapists, Yoga Instructors and a few Chiropractors and Osteopaths. I believe that one day lay people will also practice assisted stretching facilitating flexibility, health, and stress relief for family members, friends and coworkers.

Hallmarks of Assisted Yoga are energy balancing, and muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia and joint stretching at its best! Our blood vessels, lymphatic channels, cerebral spinal spaces and nerves all travel through and are supported by our connective tissue. Connective tissue stretching causes increase circulation of blood, lymph and cerebral spinal fluid, facilitating the removal of cellular waste products and enhancing delivery of oxygen and nutrients to body tissues. It also helps balance and align the musculoskeletal system and facilitates nerve com, and gait. Assisted Yoga helps relieve tension and pain, and facilitates clarity, emotional fortitude, and a propensity towards happiness!

Our older generation first began learning about weight training in the 1950’s. They did not learn about flexibility training. So like generations before them, they are now old and stiff. It is never too late to improve your flexibility unless you have rigormortis. Dr. Clay has a segment of his clienttele who are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s who come in regularly and use Assisted Yoga as their regular yoga class.
